The AIU confirms that it has charged and provisionally suspended Tobi Amusan (NGR) for three Whereabouts Failures.
The Charge will be heard by the Disciplinary Tribunal and determined before the World Athletics Championships.
Furthermore, under the athletics integrity unit rules, three missed tests is taken as a failed drugs test and can lead to a two-year ban from all World Athletics and IOC competitions.
The only escape is the possibility of a mitigating circumstances that exist to lessen the standard punishment. Meanwhile, a full punishment will mean Tobi will miss the world championships in Hungary and the Olympics in Paris.
The Testing Procedure
There is a system called ADAMS, which every top athlete signs on to… [ADAMS means Anti-Doping Administration & Management System]. In there, you have to fill in, as a top athlete, your whereabout forms – that’s EVERYWHERE you will be at a particular time.
“If there is a change of movement, you log in and update your whereabouts…
“[With information from ADAMS], the ITO (International Testing Organization) can send its agent to test you at anytime. All they do is go to where you say you will be.
“If you are not there, it’s a failed test and they notify you. If you are absent 3 times in a year, it’s a strike – an anti-doping violation.”
Tobi Amusan : What Will Happen To Her Faith and Battle
Firstly, proving she’s clean isn’t the main idea because they ain’t accusing her of being dirty
Furthermore, what she’ll be trying to do is overturn one of the whereabouts issues and make it into a technical issue(or administrative fault) from the tester’s side.
Already, sources are saying there’s a possibility of an administrative lapses in one of the checks.
Meanwhile in her response, the world record holder talked about getting tested three days after an alleged missed test.
