Tobi Amusan marked her return to indoor athletics by setting a new African record in the 60m hurdles at the Astana Indoor Meet, Kazakhstan.

Amusan stormed to a scintillating Personal Best of 7.77s, breaking Glory Alozie’s AR of 7.82s in the women’s 60m Hurdles, set 25 years ago in Madrid.

World 100mh record holder celebrates her new Indoor record.

Currently, the world’s record holder in women’s 100mh, Amusan is scheduled to run 3 Indoor Gold Tour meets starting with Astana.

The two other indoor meets are the New Balance Grand Prix and the Orlen Copernicus Cup.

It’s worth noting that Amusan has not run an indoor 60m hurdle race since the 2021 season.

The time is the 20th all-time in the world and the second fastest time in the world for 2024.

Earlier in the semi-final, Tobi Amusan eases through the 60m hurdles in Astana as she clocks 7.91.

Also, Amusan moves to number 20 on the world all-time list with the 7.77s time. The reigning Commonwealth Games champion has now broken all three African records held by Alozie.

Furthermore, the sprint hurdler now owns the Nigeria, Nigerian Championships, African, African Games, African Indoor, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and world records.

Her return to indoor athletics coincides with her battle against World Athletics on her doping violation case which she won.
