Nigeria needs one point to qualify for the 2025 AFCON after CAF awarded goals, and points in the botched Nigeria vs Libya match.
In a decision by the CAF Disciplinary Board, CAF awarded Nigeria three points and three goals.
Also, CAF fined Libya $50,000 to be paid within 60 days of the decision.

Earlier, CAF President Patrice Motsepe emphasized the organization’s commitment to upholding sportsmanship and fair treatment within African football.
Furthermore, in its ruling on Saturday, signed by the chairman, Ousmane Kane, the Disciplinary Board ruled:
1) The Libya Football Federation is found to have breached Article 31 of the Africa Cup of Nations Regulations as well as Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
2) The match No. 87 Libya v. Nigeria of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers 2025 (scheduled to be played on 15 October in Benghazi) declared lost by forfeit by Libya (by a score of 3-0).
3) The Libya Football Federation is ordered to pay a fine of USD 50,000.
4) The fine is to be paid within 60 days of notification of the present decision.
5) All other and further motions or prayers for relief are dismissed.
CAF Award Goals Points: How It Shapes Group D
Consequently, Nigeria now leads the AFCON 2025 qualifying Group D with ten points from four matches.
After CAF awards goals points, the group changes as Benin Republic is now in second position with six points.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles next play the Benin Republic in matchday five of AFCON 2025 qualifiers.

Libya held Super Eagles hostage at the Abraq airport after their aircraft was diverted a few minutes before landing in the scheduled city (Benghazi) that will host the return leg match between Libya and Nigeria.
After spending 16 hours at the airport, Nigeria abandoned the game and made an official report to CAF.
