The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced Chiamaka Nnadozie of Nigeria as the 2024 CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award winner.
Nnadozie, who plays for Paris FC, made the shortlist alongside other top African goalkeepers, including Fideline Ngoy of DR Congo, Khadija Er-Rmichi of Morocco, and Andile Dlamini of South Africa.
Chiamaka Nnadozie: Won One Out of Two Nominations.
Going into the 2024 CAF Awards, Nnadozie received nominations in two categories, the Best Goalkeeper and the Women’s Player of the Year.
Nnadozie lost to Zambia’s Babra Banda in the women’s Player of the Year category after winning the Goalkeeper of the Year award earlier in the night.
Her recognition as Africa’s best women’s goalkeeper ensures she keeps the award won in 2023 where she also emerged as the best.
Nnadozie represented Nigeria at the Paris Olympic Games and will be key for the Super Falcons in next year’s TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 qualifiers.
The Super Falcons’ number one thanked the CAF and Nigerian Football Federation Presidents for their contribution to growing the women’s game in Africa.
“Last year I was here, and I am here again today and grateful to God. I want to say big thank you to the CAF President and Nigerian Football President for the work done for women’s football. Also thank you to my club Par who have invested a lot in me.
Also, to my coaches and teammates who all made this happen. Of course, to my family and friends who have supported me from day one”, said Nnadozie”.
The Super Falcons goalkeeper was also shortlisted for the final list of the prestigious 2024 Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Women’s Player of the Year award.
Adding to the glory, the Super Falcons finished the Year on a high note, at the CAF Awards ceremony in Morocco, the team won the best women’s national team of the year.
This award is a culmination of their hard work and teamwork, a fantastic achievement for the team.
