Team Nigeria makes history as the duo of Simidele Adeagbo and Kewe King step onto the ice in Cortina d’Ampezzo for their official 2-woman bobsleigh World Cup race debut today, 23 November 2025.
This milestone marks Nigeria’s growing presence in the global winter sports scene.
Adeagbo has already broken multiple continental barriers, becoming the first African to compete in bobsleigh at the IBSF World Championships and the first African athlete to win an international sled race.
Adeagbo’s and Kewe King’s partnership now pushes the frontier even further, as they are Africa’s first 2-woman bobsleigh team to compete in an IBSF World Cup race at the Eugenio Monti Sliding Centre, marking a significant breakthrough for the continent.
The duo Adeagbo/King finished 25th in the 2-woman bobsleigh event of the 2025/2026 IBSF World Cup in Cortina.
Deborah Levi won the IBSF World Cup in the 2-woman Bobsleigh and can now look back on 21 victories in the 2-woman and five in the Women’s Monobob.
In the overall standings for the 2025/2026 IBSF World Cup, Laura Nolte (GER, 225 points) leads after the first of seven races, ahead of Kaysha Love (USA, 210) and Kaillie Armbruster Humphries (USA, 200).
Also, Simidele Adeagbo is earning a second record in winter sports after becoming the first Nigerian to participate in Skeleton in 2017.
