Seun Ogunsakin stepped onto the courts in Paris and made history as the first Nigerian on record to play in the qualifying rounds of the Roland Garros Junior Championships.
The 17-year-old defeated Lenny Couturier 6-2, 6-4 to move into the second round of qualifying.

Despite winning his first set, Seun Ogunsakin lost out in the quarter-final stage of the J300 Charleroi event in Belgium.
He defeated Kanta Watanabe, the No 3 seed, to reach the quarterfinals, and a win at the J300 could have boosted his chances of getting a Special Exempt spot for the Roland Garros Junior Championships main draw.
Also, he featured in the J200 Prato tournament in Italy as the number three seed.
While Ogunsakin is the first Nigerian to officially play in the French Open Juniors, two other players of Nigerian descent have featured while representing other countries.
Calvin Hemery, representing France, and Michael Mmoh, representing the United States, have passed through the same competition.
