Blessing Ogundiran won the 100m title three years after winning her first in Benin City, to crown a year in which she ran her first sub-11s and an undefeated collegiate season.
The national trials 100m final lived up to the hype with four juniors going toe-to-toe with four seniors in the final.
Ogundiran Wins 100m National Title
Undefeated NAIA champion, Blessing Ogundiran storms to the Nigerian women’s 100m title at the Commonwealth Games Trials in Lagos, clocking a time of 11.12s (-0.5).
One of the four juniors, Miracle Ezechukwu, finished 2nd in a new PB of 11.15s, followed by Olayinka Olajide in 11.28s.
After the race, Ogundiran said: “When I was at the start block, I was thinking of what my coach told me that I should just execute my race and not panic, and that was what I did.”
“It was a tough time getting here after traveling for almost four days due to what happened in the US (storm) but I am grateful to God that I am going back with the title.”

The final featured four junior sprinters, namely Miracle Ezechukwu, Rosemary Nwankwo, Jennifer Chukwuka Obi, and Cynthia Nweke.
Also, Winner Blessing Ogundiran and Olayinka Olajide led the Senior Athletes in the women’s 100m final.
Blessing Ogundiran will be looking towards the 2026 Commonwealth Games to complete her perfect year.
